MAKING HISTORY: Dana Shores Project

Starlink Construction is MAKING HISTORY with our Dana Shores project. This project is the first aerial to underground conversion (Storm/flood Hardening) for Tampa Electric. The projected timeline for this project was 2 years. We are well ahead of schedule.

All of the feeder conduit is installed and we are currently finishing installation of manholes and switch gears. We are also in the beginning phases of getting transformers ready.

What is Storm/Flood hardening and what is the purpose?

Storm hardening is the process of creating new infrastructure or retrofit existing infrastructure.

The purpose of storm and flood hardening is to make utilities more capable of withstanding extreme weather events. This adopts new technology, new equipment, and changing communications/IT at the facility.

Why does Dana Shores make a great candidate for the first conversion?

Dana Shores is located in a high flood area which causes the dirt in the ground to become soft and the poles to lean. This creates a potential opportunity for injuries, outages, and fatalities.
